At Yarn Vibes, our mission is deeply rooted in supporting the long-suffering Irish wool industry by offering 100% organic Irish wool that is sustainably and environmentally conscious. We believe in honouring the rich heritage of Irish wool while advocating for a brighter, eco-friendly future.
By sourcing our wool from ethically raised sheep raised on an organic farm, we aim to revitalise the local wool industry in Ireland and empower sheep farmers. Our commitment to sustainability extends to every aspect of production, ensuring minimal environmental impact, reduced waste, and the use of GOTS-certified organic dyes.
With our premium quality, environmentally conscious yarn, we hope to inspire crafters worldwide to join us in supporting the resilience and preservation of the Irish wool tradition.
Organic Farming
Yarn Vibes' commitment to sustainability begins at the source: organic farming. Organic wool is derived from sheep that graze on pesticide-free, organically managed pastures. These animals are raised without the use of synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The absence of harmful chemicals ensures that the soil, water, and air remain free from pollution, preserving the ecological balance of the surrounding ecosystem.
Animal Welfare
Sustainability encompasses not only environmental factors but also animal welfare. Yarn Vibes takes great pride in adhering to ethical standards, ensuring that the sheep are treated with care and respect. The sheep are provided with spacious pastures, clean water, and a healthy diet, contributing to their overall well-being. The sheep are never subjected to mulesing, a controversial practice sometimes used in the wool industry, ensuring that their comfort and natural behaviours are preserved. The fleece comes from County Kildare, from a flock of sheep farmed by Fergal a 9th generation farmer, continuing the age-old farming practices of sheep-keeping on the Curragh in Kildare - a tradition which stretches back to the days of St. Brigid.
Dyeing and Processing
Yarn Vibes is also dedicated to sustainable dyeing and processing methods. Our yarn is dyed to GOTS-certified standards using organically certified dyes that are free from harmful chemicals, reducing water pollution and minimising our impact on aquatic ecosystems.
Additionally, our production processes prioritise energy efficiency and waste reduction, ensuring that our operations align with eco-friendly practices.
Community Support
